Wonder Stories mainstay AIMES links up with Spanish space disco don James Rod for a split EP of cosmic goodness. Each offering up an original track, plus a remix for the other, the EP’s common ground can be heard in the arp’d baselines and spacey synths.
Brooklyn-based producer Air Zaïre is making his highly anticipated return following the 2014 release of “Sanibel ft. Patrick Baker.”
Featuring original vocals by newcomer Daniela Cabrera,”Love 94″ pays tribute to Air Zaïre’s favorite ’90s smooth jazz and soft rock radio station from his South Florida hometown.
Whereas the airy “Sanibel” focused on whisking away a love interest to a remote island, “Love 94” is a hopeful tropical anthem about second chances and winning back a lost love.
“Can’t let you turn around and walk away, baby”, sings Daniela before proclaiming, “Someday we could be together / But we’re alone tonight.”
Vocals recorded by Max Peterson. Mastered by Aman Ellis. Additional mixing by Michael Banks and Dan Diaz
Artwork by Giovanni Torres

Out today is a new EP from NYC’s AIMES on Mexico City based label Trafico Music. This EP shows a departure from AIMES usual, into a left-field house conglomerate with two original tracks designed for the weirder moments on the dance floor plus two stellar remixes from Mexico City’s Juan Soto (Electrique Music) and NYC’s Tunnel Signs (Have A Killer Time / Clouded Vision).
NYC meets Mexico City for stellar results. Listen and Download…
For Wondercast 006 we invited our good friend and local Mazatlan veteran DJ Enrique Freyre to submit a mix that embodies the sound of his tropical home town of Mazatlan, Mexico. Enrique, also known affectionately as ‘El Doc’, has been a long time resident DJ at some of the best spots in Mazatlan. He also happens to make the best pizza in town (sorry La Mona). Enjoy the free download and show some love some love to his soundcloud!
Out today is a new EP from Wonder Stories’ homies Perdido Key. You may have caught their debut EP released by us last month, which you can check out here. Now, the illusive NYC duo drops a banging left field EP with the illustrious NEIN Records. Two pleasantly weird and dance floor friendly originals are accompanied by a trio of remixes from Gameboyz (Spain), Sequencers (MEX), and Discordance (UK). The lead track is a wonky, chugging house number with a start/stop feel and great atmosphere. The B-side is a romping techno monster full of peak time acid and a demonic bass line. Available now here.
Our very own AIMES has just dropped a dance floor ready soulful house heater for free via his soundcloud. A slight detour from AIMES’ usual cosmic disco leaning’s, this track combines classic disco drums and percussion with modern house stabs and classic vocals. Head on over and grab the track for free, no strings attached.
We are incredibly excited to share Perdido Key‘s debut EP ‘Lost Is Found’. Available now: https://pro.beatport.com/release/lost-is-found/1497482
Lost in depths of New York City’s underground club scene, you’ll find two producers collecting fragments of inspiration in the oddest places. On any night of the week you might find them raving in an abandoned Chinese restaurant or spinning records in one of Brooklyn’s many illegal DIY venues. The duo has channeled their inspirations into the studio, crafting analog heavy left-field house and techno designed for sweaty basements and dark warehouses.
Their debut EP ‘Lost Is Found’ shows them digging into the deeper and weirder side of dance music while still keeping an affinity to precise melodies and four on the flour rhythms. The EP’s title track is a dark and enigmatic house cut with a jacking beat and a deep ambiance. The following two tracks, ‘I’m Free’ and ‘Rat Acid’, are a pair of peak time techno cuts full of enigmatic rhythms and bouncy acid lines. Joining the release are a couple of remixes from Earl Grey and William Earl, both haling from the UK and of no relation. Earl Grey takes ‘Lost Is Found’ and tweaks it into a bouncy, understated, and sublimely deep house cut, while William Earl tackles ‘I’m Free’ with a slowed down and ghoulish chugging rework.
Christopher Gilbert makes retro leaning and faux new age cosmic music. By Faux new age I mean his music could easily be mistaken for something Manuel Göttsching or Tangerine Dream was doing in the 70s. His bandcamp has a huge catalog of cosmic synth wave and is definitely worth a listen.
